Gear box seal?
« on: 17 October 2012, 10:41:17 »

When undoing the crank sensor torx bolt next to oil filter housing i noticed that there is a flat sided oval rubber seal that was deteriorating - i think this is the front of the autobox (there is another rubber round seal further down if that helps) - anyway i very gently touched it and it literally disintegrated - the part number on it is now not visible.

Does anyone know what this rubber seal is / part number is and is it that important? i.e. could i drive it still - no signs of leaking from the area for now.

Its the cover bung that allows access to the bolts that hold the torque converter to the flexi-plate.

Alot of Omegas either don,t have them fitted or they have fallen apart as mine did when had a recent gearbox replacement. It stops muck etc getting into an otherwise void space but really should be covered over. :y

Another circular bung under the bottom of the gearbox body to.
