Heres an interesting one.....
« on: 23 October 2012, 18:09:05 »

About 4 weeks ago, on at sat night, a learner driver scrapes down the side of my trafic, every panel front to rear is dented.
It wasnt a driving school car.
We both stopped and i got the details from the 'instructor'. He also claimed it was all 'their' fault.

On the monday morning i reported the incident to the lease company ( i lease this trafic) and gave them details of where the accident happened, the name and address of the 'instructor' make and model of the car and the reg number, oh and his insurance details.

Today i call into the lease company to find out how the claim is going.

They show me a letter they have had from the police.

The letter asks who was driving at the time as they are considering taking action on the following

Driving without due care and attention
Failing to stop after an accident
Failing to report an accident

So......it seems that the 'instructor' has reported me to the police for causing the accident and then failing to stop.

The lease company has responded to the letter, contending the report of of the 'instructor' , pointing out that within 48hrs of the accident, they knew all the above details....

Oh and also pointing out i was a job at the time and had 6 independent witnesses inside the bus.

I hope they prosecute the 'instructor' for wasting police time.

You sound quite calm Dave. I would have steam coming out of my ears.

Incidentally, isn't there achange in the law afoot? I thought that driving instructors had to be jusst that, in a school/instructors vehicle, and not uncle Albert who hasn't driven for a few years but will teach you anyway.

Don't know about that, but while in Wales recently, on an Irish radio station it said that to be entered into a driving test, you'd to have had a minimum number of hours instruction with a 'proper' driving school/instructor.
