What's the difference?
« on: 24 October 2012, 19:23:56 »

Getting my new mig next month. Hooray!!

It's a 2003 2.6 CDX saloon model. The newest one I've had before was a T reg MV6 estate.

Just wondering what the differences are? Which is better, old or new?

I'd really like to hear your opinions as I've never driven or been in the youngest models.

Many thanks! :-* :-* :-*  :y

Both very similar to drive.Biggest noticeable difference is the interior. Its a matter of opinion which one looks better, but the facelist interior is definitely not as hard wearing as the previous versions.

Horses for courses really  :-\

My current Omega is my first FL model, and I love it, especially when it's running  :o
Anyway, I prefer the aesthetic of the newer model outside, but the interior, though nice, is not as robust as my MFL  :(

IMHO  :y

Be interesting to see what you think  ::)

You may open the bonnet and think "there's something missing, but can't put your finger on it"

Its basically the same engine :y

Everyone is different on this one, some prefer the Face Lift and some prefer the Pre Face Lift.
I personally prefer the PFL but each to their own!

Happy for you to bring it round for a quick check-up if you wish.  Unless you can wait until the cambelt meet in the new year  :y

Aah the superior face lift. :)

Main driving difference you'll notice, I think, is the drive by wire throttle. Pick up is bit quicker, but not necessarily better under all conditions. Pedal doesn't move when cruise is activated and altered, like the old cable activated pre face lift 2.5/3.0 engines.

There is a lot less gubbins under the 2.6/3.2 bonnet. No icv, no egr, no sai, no plug leads. Much easier to work on.

And you no longer need a paper clip to read the fault codes. :)

The MOT is due on 21st December so it would be useful to know if anything needs doing. :-*

Sounds like a big improvement. Can you get fault codes without one of those reader devices?
