Hi, just a warning to Omega owners, I was recently a proud owner of a V 6 which was wrecked by a foreign driver not used to traffic lights. It ran perfectly for 10 years and was written off in 2 seconds. I had spent £3000 on keep in good top conditon. Direct line offered me £800 max for a brilliant car, whats the point of fully comp ins.  John

i dont have fully comp,always considered it a waste of money.if i ever have a car worth a lot of dosh i might reconsider.

Peachy as my Mig is it's only worth a grand or thereabouts so TPFT for me, £180 with 9 points. Down to 3 points now so will look again @ renewal time. If not much difference might go Fully Comp. but as a rule on a low value car, no point.

What I find stupid is why they bother to ask you what the value of the car is and then send you a certificate saying 'market value'..... in other words you may have paid a bit more for a decent example with a warranty etc etc but regardless of what you paid they'll only pay bottom book.... quick enough to take your money though!!!

It would make sense if they gave you the true value to you of the car, i often wonder when i renew and they ask the value coz i know they'll only give me the book value of my motor which unfortunately with these fine cars is bugger al.
Never understood it because they calculate the premium based partly on the value of the vehicle so they know the risk they are insuring against so why not pay out :-???

I agree, not worth the effort especially after they remove your excess...but in myt case a) FC is cheaper than TFT and b) FC I can drive other cars on the insurance policy...

Interestingly a lot of companies are stopping the ability to drive other (insured in their own right) cars on your policy. I don't think I can drive another insured car TPFT on my Direct Line FC policy anymore, so am now a named driver on other policies.
