Bit too rich for me, I'm going to buy from Amazon whatever TV i go with mainly due to their 30 day money back guarantee... at the moment i'm leaning towards the  LG 32LM620T [/size]http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-32LM620T-32-inch-Widescreen-Freeview/dp/B007IYW1A8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1352062289&sr=8-1

Can't really think of anything bad to say about LG (Lucky Goldstar) sets in general, but I do know they are one of the main handful (and I do mean no more than half a dozen) manufacturers of the actual LCD/LED/Plasma panels that are sold worldwide to ALL television manufacturers.

In short, the same screen that is in your £3000 Sony Bravia is also the same screen from the same production line as the cheap bit of £200 crap from Tesco/Argos that generally goes under the name Technika/Acoustic Solutions/whatever.
The only difference is in the electronics that surround the actual panel.

Thought LG meant Liquid Gold or is it Life's Good ... What do you think of the TV in the link ?  :-\

LG = Lucky Goldstar, or Goldstar as it was known here a while back. Budget brand.

For the price, I'd go with DTM's suggestion for £20 more.

So don't use Amazon then. They aren't always cheap...

A quick Google shows that both the Panny & the LG get reasonably decent reviews for overall performance versus price versus reliability.

My advice would be to get yourself down to your local Richer Sounds (or similar), and compare both sets side by side in the shop and make your mind up from that given the small price difference.

Richer Sounds also operate a 5 year extended warranty that will cost you 10% of the retail price of the set, and while I don't generally buy in to extended warranty crap as SOGA covers me (although that can be a bit of a fight), I'd say take their offer as you get the money back after 5 years if you don't have a claim.

Still on the hunt (hanging on also for the possible bargains) I've ruled out LG, Samsung 50/50, Panasonic is a contender, I'm not so sure I need / want 3D which would bring the price down to get a better TV such as the Panasonic as has been suggested... As daft as this may sound or not logical even, I want to buy my next TV from Amazon (direct). I have my reasons...

So I'm after a 32" minimum Full HD, Smart TV (3D I'm undecided on whether its worth it or not ) for under £500 not a penny more ...

Make sure you get one with an Ethernet connection on - that way you can access the web for various things like the iPlayer. Have it on our LG (from Richers) and use it regularly.

However, be very careful with Panasonic models as their iPlayer access was only added recently - so check specifically that it has this. Some older models which they might want to shift cheap might not have iPlayer access. A simple Google search will sort you out.

You can also get a wifi module for some - but I'd go for a wired connection every time.

Whichever model you get, it will be virtually certain to do a software update as soon as you connect it on line. That's fine as it will have been many weeks/months since it was made due to shipping etc and will update to the latest version. My mates Panasonic was introduced to the web for the first time recently and took about 10 mins to update as soon as it was plugged into his router.

Iplayer gets added as part of the online software download.  :y

Do check for built in wifi, most onclude this now but some older models requrie a dongle.

As already psosted, the panasonic I listed has the 5 year warranty and built in wifi (or wired).
