Well what a thoroughly enjoyable long weekend - we arrived Thursday. We intented to go out and about Thursday afternoon, but Mrs TB's glamping towers took a little longer than expected to set up, so we got set up, then relaxed.
Friday, we went for a walk in the Forest of Dean with Jimbob, Mrs Jimbob/Ljay and the kids and dogs, only to find the friggin' pub was closed at lunchtime
. Never mind, we found one at Ross where I got chilli, rice and chips for £2
. Granted, not the best I've ever had, but far from the worse. How the hell do they do it?
Friday night, and most people turn up. A few of us decided to get a takeaway curry in, just as a change from burgers and bangers, and then the usual evening of sitting around under the event shelters, trying a beverage or 2, chatting and laughing. As is now tradition, as we're a civilised bunch, the evening draws in with cheese and port.
Saturday morning starts with a hearty breakfast before some of the girls go off shopping, and some of the boys play cars. Gixer and I both had cambelts changed, BobG had a 4 pot crank sensor replaced - what a bastard job that is - and rear polys went on Seth's TD and AndyB's Elite. Seth's TD had it's spare ECU programmed to the immobiliser and I had the ABS codes read, confirming my fears. Not sure what else was done, as after that I started on the applejuice, and then the evening got in full swing, including getting the site owner over to express our thanks, and then the quiz... ...in which Mr DTM got an Omega question wrong
. More whisky, more cheese and port, and I kept helping myself to Guffers barrel of very moreish liquid refreshment.
A fantastic meet, both Mrs TB and I really enjoyed. I hope next year we can get back to 2 meets a year.
Thanks to Seth for organising this, and a personal thanks to Marks DTM for the work he did to my car, and to NF who must have brought a complete toolkit, as every tool I asked for just turned up
. But, more importantly, thanks to everyone for turning up, and helping out in whatever ways you could, and making it a thoroughly enjoyable weekend
