Presuming it ain't leaking which is always worth checking first... around £40 most in places, did at ATS but leaked in 24H after they checked for leaks first  :'( ;D never bothered to get it fixed mainly due to price and everyone I went to gave an estimate that made my eyes water cold plus it's cold most of the time  ::)

Vx do it for £48.

Having said that, they don't pressure test as part of the job. Or at least my local didn't.

They should do because it an offence to charge a system that's known to have a leak  :-\

My local auto-electrical place (full of ambulances and police cars having all the internal electrics done) charges £39:98 ( well it was last time) and tells you before hand it will take about an half an hour ..... :)

They empty and measure, then vac and check vac hold, then pressurise with nitrogen (I think) and check pressure holds before refilling with new refridgerant and oil.

You get a print out of how much refridgerant and oil they got out, what pressures (negative and positive) were held and for how long, and how much was put back in.

Also provide free coffee and a decent range of autosport mags to read whilst waiting  :y :y :y

Very good service IMHO  ... :)

Touch not with a barge pole .. totally useless waste of time and money. You need the old stuff taken out, the system vacced clean, and MEASURED amounts of oil and refridgereant putting in.

You wouldn't just pour 2 pints of oil into the engine without first checking the dipstick would you ?? so why do the same with the air con ?
