Coil Pack Compatibility
« on: 06 November 2012, 13:23:26 »

Hey guys,

not much of a mechanic, but would a coil pack from 3.0 Ltr be compatible for a 3.2 Ltr Engine?
Plus, found out the Plug wells were filled with Engine oil.
managed to change the spark plugs and the engine seems to stall alot more then before when idling

 :'(What could be the cause?

3.0 Uses a single DIS pack.

3.2 uses a coil per plug setup & has one per bank.

So no, it won't work.  :)

Oil in plugs is down to cam cover gasket failing, follow our guides and use genuine parts only  :y

Later 2.5/3.0s did have the coil pack mounts on the head.

Guessing the cam covers were probably different. Anyone confirm?

EDIT: Of course, the engine management of a 2.5 / 3.0 can't drive the coil packs from a 2.6/3.2 and vice versa.

Can covers are indeed differenct, rectangular holes for the coil packs above the spark plugs rather than round tube type ones for the plug leads
