Hi everyone, just found out how to work this computer so now I can ask the Question about my car that is driving everyone of my friends round the bend.
I own a 2002 Omega 2.2 CD Auto, 38,500mls ,I bought the car 18mths ago privately, when I took it to my local garage for a service and cambelt I was told that the exhaust was k******d but at the time they were unable to fix it due to a heavy work load.
I then took it to another nearby garage to have the complete exhaust fitted (non Vauxhall part half the price), 2 days after the exhaust was fitted the EML came on,a scanner revealed that the pre-cat o2 censor had failed.
A new sensor was fitted and 5mls down the road the EML reappeared, the garage scanned the system again and another new pre-cat o2 sensor was fitted.
Again the EML reappeared after approx. 60mls the garage found that there was a leak at the exhaust manifold and had it skimmed and a new gasket fitted plus a new manifold to exhaust gasket, they believed that was the problem.
The EML reappeared again and it was thought that the EGR was at fault so a new EGR valve was fitted, after a run in the car low and behold the EML came back on,at the same time I noticed that we were low on fuel and the fuel light had not illuminated so to check that the fuel light was working I stopped the car switched off the engine and then just turned on the ignition and found that the fuel light did illuminate,I then switched the ignition off and then restarted the car and to my amazement the EML had gone out.
We checked the memory and there was no history, since then the EML has come back on and gone off on it`s own accord.
We are now baffled by what the cause might be,we have checked the wiring for faults but found non the pre-cat o2 sensor and EGR valve have been changed all gaskets changed,I have been told that the problem might be the new exhaust that was fitted as this problem only started after that time, could they be right and should I have had a genuine Vauxhall part fitted.
Your views on this would be appreciated.
