Seat belt penalty ticket.
« on: 10 November 2012, 20:45:52 »

Hi all, just need a bit of advice here,my son was done for not wearing his seatbelt the other day,but the copper didn't sign his name at the bottom of the ticket.
Is this ticket legal or not,at the time my boy was giving the cop some advice of how to catch some real crims, plus the cop was called away to a rta.

Could have still happened and he should have known better!!  As for your lad giving the copper some mouth (advice), he should grow up.  No sympathy - pay up and take the punishment and learn the lesson  ???

A fair cop is a fair cop ok,he would be the first to admit this, what about the drivers who think it's great to munch away at a big mac whilst swigging a large coke down their neck. Doing all this while guiding the steering wheel with their knees, now be honest we have all seen examples of this, but they seem immune to being stopped by Mr Plod.

Was your lad doing this?  No??

He was not wearing a seatbelt and by the sounds of your description, was giving a good version of failing the attitude test. Yes, I know attitude falls both ways but a busy cop (as this was, being was sent to an RTA etc) does not need a bit of lip for a clear case.

If your lad wants to argue the toss, simply don't pay it and have his day in court as he is entitled to do.

Ps - was he or was he not wearing his seatbelt, BTW??

And yes, perhaps the ticket will be void.

But the magistrates fixed penalty that will follow in a few weeks will be perfectly acceptable.

3 years driving a Hackney carriage, (and not wearing one), is a hard habit to break ::)

Buy a Merc .............. talk about the Nanny State!  ???  ??? First off, you get gentle 'ding' as a reminder ,if you ignore it, it gets a little louder  - if you have the audacity to ignore it still, it then goes mad at you so you put the bugger on to shut the barsteward up. And I thought that I had a choice! (not from a legal point of view on the road  ;))
