They are getting ready for electric cars where they can't collect fuel duty, so they will use road pricing instead.  >:( >:( >:( >:(

Apparently this is all driven by EU directives, so there is a pan-European road toll network plan with the money going to the EU and they will then allocate it where they see fit. Realistically with will mean 80% will go to France, 19% to Germany, and the rest to the other EU countries, with sorry UK you might be one of the biggest contributors, but the pot is empty. As usual if you are a UK motorist, best to keep a tub of Vaseline handy it might ease the pain a bit.  >:( >:( >:( >:(

The Chancellor is also expected to increase the cost of the tax disc, which raises £6 billion a year, in line with inflation in the March Budget.

Not only a fuel hike but car tax as well , its about time the people of this country told them where to stick it ...  :(

They will push it too far, and will have themselves to blame if riots start breaking out. You can only push people so far before they revolt >:( >:( >:(
We are pretty tolerant in the UK but there will be limits

Trouble is we are seen as a soft touch in this country when it comes to being shafted by tax , its getting to the point where i personally will be forced off the road if all these hikes fall into place  :(

You want toll roads so scrap the road tax  >:( No we get shafted both ways !

They are already the wrong side of the Laffer curve. This is why in the first 9 month of this year 2.7billion gallons less fuel was used by motorists in the UK than in the first 9 months of 2008.  :o :o :o :o

This is why they are looking for new ways to increase taxes on the motorists that are still there, and so there will be even less motorist, so more and higher taxes are required...............................

You can see the same effect with austerity measures in the PIIGS countries, where they are in economic death spirals.

A good piece of advice I was once given is that you can't stop a fool being a fool and their are no bigger fools than politicians. I blame the church for becoming such a minority interest, as the public school educated fool in the family used to be pointed in their direction for their career, now they become a researcher for a political party and start climbing the greasy pole.  :o :o :o :o
