We shall certainly be remembering.Ihave a son-in-law in the Coldstream Guards who went to and thankfully returned from Afghanistan last year.I believe that a wiser person than I once said"Whilever there are two men alive on this planet there will be a war"sadly I think he was right. So yes let's remember those who didn't return, and respect those who did.

My lad asked if he can pop into town for the parade last night.

Only too happy to join him  :)

Old men in suits make wars, and fight them from armchairs. It's just another part of the system of control.

During the Remembrance programme this morning the BBC read out the contents of a letter written by a young soldier who fell in Afganistan .
It was marked " To be opened only upon my death " .
I found it to contain the most profound & saddest words that I have heard and am not ashamed to say it brought tears to my eyes.
A deeply moving event that must never be diluted.

My lads footy kick off was put back to 11:10 this morning so we could all pay our repsects and have the 2 minute silence, the sunday league team on the adjacent pitch played on all the way through the silence and even though it was obvious there was a 2 minute silence being observed the players used the "F" and the "C" word throughout the 2 mins........ They may well have observed the 2 mins silence before they kicked off but in my opinion they should have delayed the kick off or kicked off earlier and had half time for 11am.  Either way my lad was a little confused as to why the whole park wasn't silent.

I remember.

My Great Uncle Private 13369 Frank Walter Edwards of the 53rd Coy. Machine Gun Corps. who was lost to the putrid mud of Ypres on the 30th July 1917.

My Grandfather, Edward Freeman who was killed by a Luftwaffe bomb on Tunbridge Wells on 12th September 1940.

We will remember them and all the others at the going down of the sun, and in the morning. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Why War?  Oh why?  Does mankind ever learn?
