for my 30th birthday (nigh on 18 years ago) my wife bought me a Ford 2.8i crapheap "as a bit of fun" to recapture my teenage idiocy... 

my senator at the time was faster, handled better, and was better on fuel,  with a bigger boot, and more comfortable for everyone on board.... 

the capri went as soon as it was polite to do so....

I have a 1988 (E) Mk2 VW Golf 1.6D that I use for my commute to work.  Technically I didn't buy it though.  My parents (having owned it from new) were going to scrap it, but I managed to convince them to give it to me instead! 

Bought a 1995 3.0 Auto Laguna about 14 years ago.  I had it a week and averaged 13mpg!    Took it back to the dealer, told him he was having a laugh, and traded it up against a 2.0 16v Calibra and a 1.7TD Cavalier!   

Other than that, every single one of my cars has been a Vauxhall... and there have been over 50 of them to date!

Audi A6 Avant estate, got it after my first mig (which was a V6 that gave me loads of trouble).

It was pile of c**p, had it for 3 months and then got the first mig I could find for sale nearby.

Still got that one (2.2) and the current one.
