Another EML
« on: 13 November 2012, 09:20:43 »

Morning chaps, got in the car this morning to go to work, turned her on, drove off and the EML came on, then went out after 10 seconds or so. Nothing noticeable with engine when it came on. Got to work, plugged in my code reader, and hey presto, NO stored or pending codes. Anyone else had this same sort of issue? (Twas very damp this morning i might add)  ::)

Hi,
I have the same problem,I fitted an after market exhaust and that`s when the problem started,I`ve been told that after market exhausts can cause the problem.
You haven`t just had a new exhaust fitted have you, because it seams that the position of the post 02 sensor in these exhausts is critical and car cause the EML. to illuminate.

Brand new genuine GM one fitted just before i bought the car just over a year ago, had no problems with the exhaust, plus the EML has never come on in my entire ownership  :P

Not even when turning the ignition on?

If that is what you mean, check the bulb hasn't blown or it is disconnected.  Some unscrupulous car dealers / private sellers have been known to do so to hide a fault! :(

Lizzie Zoom, that just made me chuckle, yes it does come on with the ignition  ;) , the car came from a very reliable source and also KW did a full systems check a while back, so i know all the dash warning bulbs ect ect work  :P

Anyway, ive just remembered, it was the spanner light that came on and went out after 10 seconds, not the EML, sorry  ::)

Seen a few cars recently that cheap code readers are saying no codes, but there are.

If you're passing any time soon, we can plug in.
