Another one for the crusher?
« on: 13 November 2012, 20:54:04 »

Local plod in a Volvo estate pulled an Astra two door hatchback[a reasonably new one not an old banger]outside work today, and within twenty minutes it was on the back of a low loader[the Astra that is not the Volvo!]and the driver was kindly being given a lift in the police car.

They still using them old things  ;D
On this matter of crushing , would it be better to sell the car on for a profit then re distribute the money made to a good cause . Just seems like a waste crushing a perfectly usable car  :-\

Err no, how would that support our car industry? Plus too much common sense. Oh and it would take too much manpower to process fairly the sale. ;D

i think you will find they do sell some of them if they think it will make more than £ 3,500  ( only some forces do any way essex/kent  plod do ), as a friend of mine has the contract with essex/kent plod if the vehicle is taken without keys to break into them and cut new keys/program new transponders and generally get them running so that they can be shipped to auction. :y

I've seen several cars on ebay that are police seizures that are being re-sold, not high value ones either.

Think it varies from force to force what they do with them.
