For the past two years, using either 7 Series, or new 5 Series, setup the Timer on the i-Drive and come to a defrosted car, for whenever you've set the heater for  :y. Before that, scrapers  :).

Show off!  :P ;D

Seems to be a lot of drivers just clearing a little post box size hole to peer out of then driving off around here  ::) no time for clearing it thoroughly .Luke warm water seems to work but still not sure if this would crack the screen in really Baltic weather  :-\

Electric fan heater left in the car overnight plugged into an outside wall socket powered through a timer switch. Quarter of an hour before I need the car, heater comes on, defrosts, lovely and warm!  :y
Just remember not to slam the door with the wire coming out of it . . .  :-\ and remember to pull the plug out of the wall before driving off. :-[

Spare key to turn on, demist, window heaters and heated seat on. Shut the door, lock with normal key blipper.

Go in get ready.

Unlock with normal key blipper. Remove spare key, post through letter box, go to work in a toasty car. :)

If cought out by unexpected frost, de icer. I hate that job though. :(

I don't think you can do that? the blipper will not work if a key in the car.... :-\ :-\  I did try this onece but can not recall the exact result.... :-[ :-[

I can confirm - will not work - but in my case when engine is running - but key will lock with door lock (drivers)
yes, your right, key in lock works.

Point is, car is still locked and warming up. :y

I start mine up and the heated front screen and heated rear screen/mirror come on automatically, as well as the demister with fan on high coming on automatically (front screen and side windows).  2 minutes and can drive away! :y

I have always wondered dbug why Ford and of course Jaguar cars like yours have had built in front screen heaters but our Vauxhalls have never had them ::) ::)

Does the Insignia have a heated front window?

Anyway, I have a garage but if my car gets frosted up parked overnight, I just stay in bed longer! :D :D ;)
