I recently bought a 2003 2.6 v6 cd auto and I love the car. Only thing missing is cruise control. I was informed by Vauxhall that it would cost £2500 to install, thats nearly 3 times what I payed for the car.
Can this be right, or can I get it done cheaper.
Any help or advice would be very welcome.
That the fek!

It costs £35 for a new stalk and little chat with TechII
Don't you kno nuffink ??
Cruise Control, sir, requires a specially modified gearbox with ring laser gyros in order that your speed can be monitored and hence "controlled"; without an accurate reference from the gyro's the new ECU has no idea what speed you are doing, hence it cannot "control" it. Once fitted the new gearbox, with laser gyros will be able to firstly, sense the speed you are doing, then hold that speed by recognising any deviation from it and taking the required action.
Fitting the new gearbox is a 2 day task, then setting up and testing the Cruise Control is a 5 day task, including overnight Hotel bills, as the system needs at least a 200 mile "cruise" to validate the data.
Of course, as this is a "retro-fit" we cannot guarantee full compatibility with such an old vehicle and are unable to offer any form of warranty whatsoever.
