Have recently had several occasions, where the engine will turn over but not start, should say 2.6 CDX V6, 52 plate with 72k miles, wait a couple of minutes and will turn over and start straight away as normal. No difference in running at all. Makes no difference if in park or neutral as thought it may be switch, but couldn't be as no turn over would occur. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Will be running a diagnostic test tomorrow to see what code errors occur.

Check your codes first (peddle trick) but you maybe looking at a new crank sensor

Symptomatic of failing crank sensor - as said check codes but be aware a failing crank sensor doesn't always throw a fault code

After reading several threads thought that this may be the case, thanks for your help. Are they an easy DIY fix, and is a sensor required for each side. Where are they located within the engine bay? Rough cost?

Easy fix, around 15 minutes.Female torx socket required (cant remember which size).Only one sensor,right beside the oil filter.cable needs to be routed up the inner wing (i routed mine behind the brake pipes on the inner wing) and kept away from the original route close to the exhaust manifold.Its the heat from the manifold which damages the internal wiring over time and causes the problems.

If you dont have tools or confidence to do the job,I dont mind helping,although it might depend whereabouts in Essex you are whether its worth your while travelling the distance.

Many thanks for that, seems relatively easy. Am fairly competent or my dad is, but many thanks for your offer of help am located in Tiptree if get stuck. Seems that there are two options either Siemens or Bosch, as I have 2.6 V6 (52 plate) has anyone any idea.

If you can find your engine / chassis number then just have a word with your nearest dealer.

With this item, its always best to use a genuine VX part   
Pattern parts tend to be a bit on the dodgy side and with the sensor not always throwing up a code ........

If you can get your hands on a VX trade card you will save a fair few quid

I think it will be Bosch with the rounded corners on the plug,but someone more knowledgeable on the details will hopefully confirm.
Tiptree isnt too far away at all actually.

Once again many thanks will look at the bosch. Will get from VX dealer, don't have trade card though. So grateful for all the threads really helpful.
