Cylinder head gasket
« on: 04 December 2012, 23:27:38 »

The head gasket has gone on my 2.2 petrol Omega registered in Sept 2000. What sort of cost would it be to get it fixed by a none Opel garage? I've been quoted £480. Is this realistic?

I would say thats about right. You'll need a complete head set and bolts, timimng belt kit ,water pump, antifreeze, oil and filter.

Then you have the checking/skimming of the head, couple of hours labour and VAT

Not a bad price IMHO, although it can be done much cheaper if you have some basic knowledge, the guides on here and the tools/time to do it :y
