rear seat creak
« on: 08 December 2012, 16:08:28 »

I have this really annoying creaky sound coming from the rear seats or at least that's what it sounds like. I searched the forum and found there was a bulletin for this which requires some metal bending. Can any tell me how to remove the rear seat to get to the metal and how to bend the metal.

This and other interior rattles are driving me crazy !

Rear seat base comes out by pulling the two toggles at the front of the seat downwards which will unlatch the front, the whole seat base then pulls up & forwards - unplug the heater loom if applicable. I can't remember how the back bit comes out without looking ............. & it's raining here  ::)

Does the back need to come out to carry out the repair?

Not done it, and mine creaked today. Problem I have is the toggle clip to remove the base is jammed. :(

Make sure it's not the backs/bolsters creaking... It was on one of TB's cars :y

I had to search for it whilst being thrown about on the back seats on the way for a curry :-X ::)

Now that you mention it, I could have sworn it was the backs/bolsters creaking before I read the bulletin. How was TBs cured? I really need someone better to investigate these things rather than 8 and 15 y/o children!

Believe it or not I am sure he asked me to do the same in the back of his car. We cirtainly had a conversation about where the creak was coming from.

( I refused to do what you did though. ;D )
