Battery Cover, is it worth getting one?
« on: 09 December 2012, 17:18:31 »

As per above, ive been reading about owners with poor/dead batterys ect ect and was wondering is it worth putting a battery cover on over the winter months to save the cold weather killing it?

Never bothered myself if they were missing/falling apart.  My MV6 is definately missing its one, has been for ages, although I have had a spare in the garage for 3 years ::)

Saying this, the previous owner had the alternator replaced and a new battery, but its huge, the full length of the battery tray, not the usual standard sized ones.

So, not worth it if all is ok? which it is.

Just dont want a dead battery if i can help it if all this weather hype is for real  ::)

I've still got the battery jacket on mine and the battery still died.

It just makes it more interesting with bungees holding the cover flaps out of the way when you fit a new battery.  :)
Should add that the battery was four and a half years old though.  ::)

My battery stays all snug and dry with it, so I recommend one. :y :y

It is also useful when working on the car as metal tools cannot short the live terminal! :D :D ;)

I thought that the jacket was only there to protect the battery from heat from the engine - they only fittted them to vehicles with larger engines that were closer to the battery
