So many but seeing Blackpool was mentioned reminded me of our great weekend away in the resort.

Couldn't find a clean nice guest house so did the pleasure beach rides, had fish and chips and then saw the lights and we were back home in a clean environment by three in the morning. We will never go there again.

I had a very similar experience Varche.  A company do was held for two years there in a Hotel called the Norbreck Castle.  It was a right dive, and the second year I refused to sleep in the room.  So my poor husband, following the last dance, had to drive through the night towards my parents house in the Midlands, but we stopped in a country lane and slept in our car from about 3 a.m.!

Never stayed there again, although been back for a day trip, and did not change my mind about the awful town!

I went there once and found out what my business colleagues told me was true: you had to pay local scallywags money to keep your company car safe!!

Once a Liverpudlian colleague refused to pay.  He came back to find all his wheels gone and the car o up on bricks!!

Last time I went there was to a funeral of a friend who killed herself. The place suited the mood that day, TBH.

That rings bells Kevin.  The recent Channel 4 TV series 999: What's Your Emergency was a shocking insight into the many back streets of Blackpool, and the many needy people, along with criminals, who live behind all the seafront illuminations. A terrible mix of drink, drugs, and mental illness.  It was not exactly an advert for the town, and was depressing.

Cumbernauld, a concrete jungle. And as a whole I'd have to say Glasgow, most of it is a dump, you wouldn't dare walk through many of the housing estates during daylight never mind after dark.
