Suffering terribly after a 12 hour work do session and the Mrs wants to drag me out Christmas shopping .

Suggestions welcome as to how I survive the day please

Easy... Go shopping and place yourself in a pub and carry on

Obviously after a 12 hour bender yesterday you shouldn't be driving today anyway so that might help too

Plenty of water. Hangover is primarily dehydration. Also coca cola. Although this itself dehydrates, drink plenty to clear your inners. But top up with water.
Fried breakfast if you can cope.

hangover is a state of being poisoned..  so try not to eat for some time..
 
big glass of soda + small spoon of lemon juice.. and some salt (very tiny may be 1/200 of a small spoon)
 
then oxygen + walking ( or running if your condition permit)  , if not possible take a cold shower ..

Rubbish.....A nice big greasy fry up and large mug of tea......works a treat if you can keep the fry up down 

Surely as a hangover is basically dehydration.....thats why you have a headache....coz the brain has shrunk slightly....salt is going to make it worse

I agree, maybe not salt but certainly some salts would useful.  Flat coke is fanastic for rehydration, it is a slight dihuretic but too bad, the effects of which can be countered with more water which is insufficient for complete rehydration.

Well it all worked out well, 10 mins huffing and puffing in Primark etc got me kicked into the pub and now we are both suitably merry.

Coke worked but only with lashngs of vodka Guffer !!
