Shocked & stunned
« on: 22 December 2012, 10:28:13 »

Picked up an 03 plate Skoda Octavia VRS last night, good god is it quick! Proper rapid little thing, can see why the police use them as response vehicles to be honest, very impressed  :y.

We used to have one - a 51-plate 180bhp with a previous-owner remap to the Audi TT 225 spec. In the real world - on our roads - it was just about the quickest thing I've ever driven. I could cover ground quicker than in the Holden - and thats giving away 200 horsepower.

The Mother in Law has a Octavia 4x4 with the 1.8T 180 engine and it's reasonably rapid. If it was mine I'd definitely re-map to 225 though ::)

The trouble I find with it is the seats aren't comfortable enough for me. I can't drive it for much longer than half an hour before I start feeling uncomfortable :-X Plus, I find the dash layout poor :-\

Funnily enough though, it's not much better on fuel than the 3.0 Omega (if at all), although the average economy always improves on it after I've cleared it out for them :-X ::)

If you'd borrowed my SD1 TP Vitesse and give it some beans you could have halved that again.  :o :o

VRS don't hang about does it, but I thought the 0-60mph was quicker than spec shows though.  :-\ Nothing sub 7 according to spec page.  :-\
