Wiring a Denison ICE Link One
« on: 22 December 2012, 11:38:31 »

Hi all - probably one for the Omega Barron here.

I have recently purchased the ICE line to allow my ipod to be played and produce and Aux in too.

the wiring looks simple Live - red, swictched - purple, ground - black.

Are these colours replicated when i remove the head unit to get to the wires at the back - I have a siemens ncdc 2013 fitted currently

Thanks and happy christmas

Unfortunately the Omega Stereo doesn't accept proper Aux in ;)

I haven't looked at the specs of the kit but the only real solution is a FM Modulator ;)

That said, the colours probably won't be replicated but IIRC there is a pin out on the back of the stereo :y

Hiya thanks for that - the denison kit i have is an FM modulator - my bad for not saying that in the first place - it goes in via the Ariel on the car.

Thanks Nick

Should have checked the specs :-[ :-[ :-[

In that case, your biggest issue is going to be finding space behind the HU ;) I think I would be tempted to pick out as much of the wiring as possible in the passenger footwell :-\ TB/Chrisgixer will no doubt be along soon to advise as they fitted a Harmon Kardon kit into an Omega :y

sorry to sound like a dingbat - but does the ncdc2013 have a specific key code - in case i unplug it - or have they manufactured them to recognize the car they are in.  I have searched through all my documents and handbooks from when the car was new and dont have a keycode for the radio

You are absolutely right Tunnie - space is very tight - I would really like  the Ipod audio / charger cable in the glove box - and was thinking of using the hole for the glove box light , and trying to get the cable back to the head unit that way (but i would need to be a gynecologist to manage it.

Unless there is way to actually remove the glove box so I can see the cables are going.

Anyways too dark now

Just for info - the Negative / Ground is pin 8 on the radio plug, the permanent live is pin 7 and the switchable live is pin 4

(on Vauxhalls pins 7 and 4 are back to front when compared to a normal ISO lead)

the good news is it all works and the sound quality is loads better that using a transmitter shoved into the end of the ipod.

Its all doable physically, there's a knock out in the back of the glove box for an ac pipe, you could use that, and if the radio cage is removed(a real battle though) so you can then feed wires down to the footwells with care, and tuck control boxs and connectors around the side of where the cage sits. Then the head unit "should" fit back in. But in practice it took us 3 or 4 attempts to get it seated right.

I chose to tape the brains and iPod up behind the drivers kick panel leaving the glove box clutter free. It's only three (admittedly fragile ) clips to remove, as the hk controls the iPod, and allows iPhone to talk to the brain via its own aux in.

Getting the head unit in and out is very awkward though, as it sticks. Do NOT be tempted to pull on the facia panel as it WILL brake off.
