Insignia DIY Servicing
« on: 25 December 2012, 09:54:44 »

Having received the recently released Haynes Workshop Manual for Christmas, basic servicing looks a little complex, time will tell ;)

Yes I guess this could be interesting, particularly after Omega ownership. My father in law recently got one, so I'll be keen to see how you get on.
Good luck  :y

On the upside, rear pads don't require recalibratin after replacement, unlike modern VAGs.

On first read, it looks like the oil filter incorporates an oil cooler, so that you lose anti-freeze when you change it.

Could be wrong, as I haven't had time to study it in detail yet.

Still, that's a couple of years down the line, as the next service will be done by the dealer, to preserve the warranty I've got with it.

You are wrong, very wrong lol. Oil filter setup is pretty much the same as for the 1.9

I am wrong, very wrong - just re-read it before you posted ;D

It still involves taking the front wheel off, and the wheel arch liner though ;)

Autobox is very smooth.

It's also got a filler as well as a drain.

You just dont really get many issues with any of the autos Vx use.

As for wheel arch liner, just get under it, cant see how removing the wheel arch liner will help

I'd still never buy a front wheel drive auto. Even if I was happy to own a front wheel drive in the first place.

What custard does it take? Semi or full fat?

Oh, and most wwd's need the wheel and liner off for a major service anyway. But surely the oil filter is at the front or back of the engine. (Which would be the side on a correct wheel drive obviously)
