Old enough to remember the bird and the E-Type?
« on: 28 December 2012, 16:40:01 »

Sadly, I am (just)

This is from 1967 so it's a bit grainy, but it brings back a lot of childhood memories ;D

Only 43 seconds long.

Oh yes, that short lived celebrity, Simon Dee.

The opening scene with the E-Type was the best part of a poor show! ;D ;D ;D ;D :y

Don't know about Simon Dee the Bird and the E-Type. However, I do recall as a youngster hitching back to Wales from from London and getting a lift from some flash git in a pink E-Type (Yes PINK FFS !). First time I ever went over 100mph, and this was before the M4 was built. He scared the S**t out of me. Overtaking in places you would not normally even consider, the car was really that fast for it's day. Mind you, it was one hell of a "pose" driving through the towns.

I really don't remember what year that was. I do know that it was before my time  . . . Errrrrrr   ;)  :-[

Well, as it happens . . . my late Dad was a life member of the famous or infamous, Raymonds Revue Bar. Nope he didn't join up (Well that's what my Dad said!), the story is that he was in London for a rugby match, saw a bloke drop a wallet and returned it to him. The bloke was Paul raymond who rewarded him with life membership. However, it could all be just a big cover up story to explain to my Mum why he had a membership card  :-X   :y I dunno, he repeated it often enough, even to me.

Brings back memories - back in the 60s had an early E-type (3.8 engine with 3 SUs - bugger to balance using a bit of tube in the intakes) - always wish I'd kept it  :(

You could always add it to the Classic Standard thread which is hopefully a Nostalgic Motoring post:
