TBE - wow, what happened?
« on: 03 January 2013, 20:19:44 »

Now its not without its problems, but....

It currently has worn Dunlop Sport Maxx TT on the front, and some very worn Falkens on the back (cheers Tunnie :y), so having to use it today, I was expecting it to be "interesting".

However, forgetting the complete lack of grip at the back, what a transformation from the last time I drove it exactly 2 weeks ago. Even under pretty moderate braking, its reasonably stable, no squirming. A little tramlining.

All that has changed is Gixer has thrashed it around, prodded the suspension, confirmed a suspected problem, and swapped the tyres (brand new SC5) with the Bullet (Maxx TT), and then Tunnie and I swapped the trashed rear Maxx TT with some not-quite-so-trashed Falkens.

Shocked and stunned.

So this begs the question... what happens if you put the SC5's onto the MV6?

As said on another thread, unfair to comment currently, as I think the pressures are a bit high (or at least feels that way to me).

You can assume from that.....   :-X

But I was expecting to suffer from the wishbone problem?

Not enough rear grip to stand on them, but no squirming.

Still not as sure footed as the bullet, but a vast improvement that I cannot put down purely to ttyres

Confuddled.

Well;
A) It is a superior facelift
B) It was sold to you by that very nice 'used car salesman'

On a serious note, I am to be receiving some 'as new' take off tyres of various sizes, from 16'' to 20''...all premium brands. I do need to sort Robsey with some, but it may be worth you taking a look at what I've got...what are the Sportstars? 18's?

Could the difference be down to the wheels (arent PFL wheels smaller/lighter?)

18" preferably in 235 40. ...or possibly 245 40 if pushed.

Right, having now checked through what's expected, there are;
''CONTINENTAL SPORT CONTACT 5'' - Width 235 Aspect 40 Dia 18 Rating 91Y -  VAG/Porsche
QTY x7 removed from new vehicle.

They're no use to me, I only wanted the 255 50 18 and various other 17'',19'',20''. When they turn up, pop over and have a look? Might even make a curry / chicken and chips out of it!

Falkens to the rescue!  ;D ;D ;D  :D

You've not mentioned cosmetics, CD alloys on the rear, late MV6/Elite on the front. You need to have one of the bumpers re-sprayed in primer grey & you've completed the look  :-X  ;D ;D ;D

I'm back on Monday if you need a hand with anything....
