Headlamps
« on: 06 January 2013, 10:18:30 »

What are our options with increasing the brightness of our headlamp on dip.

Looked into replacing the bulbs but not sure if that will make a difference I did think they may be Xenon but looking at the price glad they are not.

I drive a transit most of the time and the headlamps on that a so much better.

Is it a new headlamp or can the reflectors be cleaned.

Look forward to your replies.

All Vauxhall headlights are poor.

In the case of yours, best option is better bulbs, such as Osram Nightbreakers. Bulb life isn't that great, though. Thats the price you pay.

Ensuring that the lenses are in good condition, not chipped, scratched, cloudy, dirty will help immensely as well.

HIDs/Xenons, a real grey area to retrofit:

Agree with everything jamie has posted, but here are some other things to check,
1 are the lamps aimed correctly
2 are the lamp lenses going cloudy / yellowish.

If  1 then get them reset and see if they are any better,
If  2 then you need to either clean the lenses with a polishong kit ( Availible from most auto motive suppliers)
or replace with new aftermarket lamps, and fit the night breaker bulbs or fit a zenon kit as i have done.
But as Jamie posted there is a grey area regarding retro fit zenons.
I have a pair of depo lamps on my estate with 6000K zenon bulb kit installed and what a difference they make.
Choice is yours as they say. Make some checks first and then decide.
