What weight can an Omega Elite 2002 estate carry?
« on: 16 January 2013, 11:39:17 »

I may need to collect 2 Land Rover engines - each weighing about 250kgs. Would an omega estate carry that weight?
cheers Toby

The definitive answer will be on the loading plate just inside the driver's door on the pillar.

IIRC, it gives maximum laden weight and maximum train weight, the lower of the two figures being laden weight.

Kerb weight for an estate is around 1850, so add 500 to this, plus your weight and any other bits and if it's within, you should be OK.

You probably wouldn't hesitate to take 4 passengers of 100kg each plus a bootful of luggage. If you're carrying this load solo it's not much difference.

EDIT: Try to get it reasonably forward in the boot with the rear seats folded down, though. If it's all on the rear axle you will probably overload it!

ARVs on full response have 4 armed thugs in full body armour, personal protection kit x4 in the boot,8 cones, first aid kits, shovels, road signs, door entry. So me thinks 2 landy engines will be under loaded, and if its got self level suspension, wont sag at the back.

Get you and a fat mate to sit on the back bumper and a slim friend to start the car.  In 10 seconds or so, if your arse doesn't move upwards, your suspension doesnt work!
