98 3.0ltr elite auto mini facelift

hopefully a easy question,  my airbag warning light has come on, friday afternoon backing up my steep drive in the snow the rear wheels spun then griped and i parked the car as normal thought no more of it, saturday morning on starting the car airbag light is on.
comes on when ignition switched on then out but then back on again and stays on, papercliped today only 12 and 31 so no faults shown up, two questions.

1. are my airbags operational as no faults showing ?

2. i am asuming i need a tech 2 session to turn the light out, in which case is anyone near Liverpool ?

thanks in advance

1) No  :'(
2) You need to have the SRS ECU read. If the code is not current, note it and clear it.

sorry gents family gathering and a big sunday dinner put paid to my plans for today.

i take i from the answers i need a chat with a tech 2 or some other code reader, as i don't even know what a SRS control unit is or were it lives!
i hate to do this but it looks like a trip to the dealers on my day off tomorrow.

IIRC 'Safety Restraint System'  :-\ (ie seat belts & pre tensioners + air bags)
