2.5 v6 autobox problem
« on: 21 January 2013, 14:43:00 »

Hiya all, Lee here

well its great having my miggy on the road again and this time with heat and no temp problems...but

We still have the trouble with the gears....

Phil change the fluid and seals in october last year and while it is a bit easier, we still have the main problem which is.. as the car warms up, at around 50 - 60 mph, the gearbox just does not like to respond properly, unless you either use the kick down, or back off the trottle completely,
It feels like a misfire, but the engine is running great, the car judders and its like its trying to get over a band that seems to be missing in the gears ( hope I have described that well enough) the gearbox is the original AR25, and all the other gears work well, the lights come on in the correct positions, and there are no warning lights on the dash regarding the gearbox

Now when Phil changed the fluid and seals, the fluid that came out was nearly black,  and phil flushed it out as best he could.

The problem doesn't bother me all the time as I usually only do short journeys, but if I go more than about 10 miles, thats when the trouble starts, and  its more noticable when going uphill

Any ideas? all help/replies gratefully accepted

If the fluid was as dirty as you describe I would change it again with a new filter before doing anything else,a lot of the old oil remains in the torque converter and a few changes will help clear out the system.
