There are different ball joints depending on chassis number. I am trying to figure out which one fits my 01 Catera.
Site with different ball joints:

Thanks.

Shouldn't make the blindest bit of difference as the arms are the same across the range :-\

If in doubt buy the later one, as, in theory it should be better if GM felt the need to change it...

Also, there is absolutely  NO way that those arms mentioned are genuine ones. They retail at well over ten times the price suggested, hence all the effort that is spent refurbishing the old ones :y

Don't you have chassis number different from VIN number?
Please, tell me year of your car (and month if possible) and if your chassis number:
1. W1172238 or lower.
2. W1172239 or higher.
Thanks.

UK and Europe used VIN exclusively from 1978 - onwards.

The "W" identifier is a yearly thing. For instance, my "Y" is a 2000MY and my "W" is a 1998

Thanks!
That is last 8 digits of VIN.
numbers changed in 96 ("W")

I had 86 Maserati Biturbo. I couldn't pass inspection, because VIN under windshield and number on firewall were different. It took police a few days to figure out, that VIN and chassis were different in Italy.

That parts supplier places an 'N' at the end of non genuine GM parts, so part no.90512982N is NON Genuine even though they state 'new Vauxhall part', whereas part no.90542995 IS a genuine GM part as they state 'This is a new genuine Vauxhall Part'.  :y
