another great fixing stuff day on my Miggy at Symes

another successful day at Symes in Oxford :y

put my new Bosch HT Leads on, cleaned out breathers with high pressure air hose, used carb cleaner on breathers etc
then fixed new brake sensor cables and i put me new Air Filter on it
cleaned out scuttle as i`d been getting severe condensation, taking ages to clear!

checked HBV - thats fine, coil dis pack is fine

woah!! holy shit!! like a pocket Rocket now and sounds great, removed my K&N Filter and replaced with Pipercross filter, world of difference!
am getting no pinking at all now  :y

tried to put new GM VX fuel filter on but because mine is 10 years old, it wouldn't move whatsoever, Syme will explain! lol

Next Sunday he`s doing Alternator and fitting fuel filter after putting on a new fuel line

Good news :)

Condensation - check the exhaust vents are clear, and you haven't blocked with assorted junk. Vents on saloons are drivers side cubby hole, assume similar on estate - never looked ;D

Correct and yes mate-1st thing checked-it was front blocked=got my fingers thru to unblock it,

k+n filter was oil type-but filthy and dry-not the sort of filter I would recommend or fit myself.However Pipercross is foam-wash it/dry it type- really good and definitely an improvement over paper one-as you only buy once :y :y
The fuel filter is stuck solid -fitting been butchered at so will get a replacement just in case it breaks when doing filter :y
Waynester -get ya tires/tracking done mate-if they wont/cant track it-pop round mate :y

I don't think you need to replace fuel filter if you use fuel cleaner.

The fuel filter is a paper element, fuel cleaner will do nothing more than block it up faster by displacing crudd from the tank.  :y

When I replaced the fuel filter on my MFL I found that the new clips provided did not fit. Iirc they were too big, so I had to reuse the old ones.
Not sure if this was a mistake by parts dept, etc but just for your info when removing yours  :y

Also bear in mind that foam air filters need to be regularly cleaned and oiled in order to filter out the finest particles of dirt, then you're back to potential MAF sensor issues. This is why manufacturers specify paper filters.

I agree mate but this one is dry-told him to keep leaflet about cleaning of filter-it even mentioned no oil as can effect MAF  :y :y

since i have had this Pipercross filter on, oh my god! my miggy has never flown so fast! lol
mind you, does help with new HT leads, breathers been cleaned

Pinking has gone and she accelerates like shit off a shovel  :y

Is it giving better performance or does it just SOUND like it is.
Doubt a non std filter alone on a stock engine will improve something that Gm spent millions on when they designed the engine and it's intake system.
Glad its running ok but dont be taken in by the air filter making a louder sound.

Gary - it is not only louder but is better on acceleration easily!
air filter will help, but having breathers cleaned out and new HT leads put on has i`m sure helped  ;D

Down mainly to breathers & HT leads - the standard Omega air filter is non restrictive, so a "pattern" filter unlikely to be an improvement ;)

manufacturers build to a cosy not always a benefit :y and he never has to buy one again-just clean it-but hey what do pipercross know eh
