My first thought was its impressive a truck can stop that quick, ESP that increased braking in the last quarter.

But then realised its the automatic nature of stopping they are advertising.

So that aside, can trucks all stop that quick normally? Lordy. :o

In an ideal world yes... 12 huge disc brakes performing an emergency stop ;)

In reality, many tractor units don't have discs all round and most trailers are still running drums ::)

When I was in the garage our heavy wrecker had awesome power. A 15L, twin turbo Caterpiller engine that did 2 gallons to the mile when cold  :o  It was plated to 80 Tonnes for UK roads so needed it and the good brakes... It would out-perform most normal road cars on acceleration (if you could cope with the 13 forward gears in an Eton Box, which wasn't easy!) and certainly out brake most cars when it was solo :y

This was a G Registered truck so not exactly new ;)

Wow! :o :o :o :o

The driver must always wear a seat belt with de-acceleration like that! ;D ;D ;D

Yep, he'd have lost his laptop, DVD player, cup of coffee, mobile phone, Latvian Newspaper , etc... otherwise. ;)
;D ;D ;D ;D

Things have moved on. Discs all round on units and trailers.

Didnt Mr clarkson drive a volvo car a while back which he demonstrated by driving up to a stationary vehicle without touching the brakes.

Agreed... On the newer ones :y But how many companies are still running around with units that are 10+ years old (bearing in mind that a 52 plate vehicle is now more than 10 years old ;)) and even older trailers ???
