Well that time has come for the Omega to go.
Had a few issues in a short period and shes needing a few things done.
Then this morning at work the gear selector has become really stiff to move.
Cant see anything obviously wrong but its the last straw.
Was fine and free last night but this morning it was stiff to move.
I've moved out to the countryside and need a reliable car.
New car is just a year old so should be ok. An Insignia
Its a diesel so should get more than the shocking mid 20s mpg I get just now.
Just hope Ive done the right thing.

Stiff selector is an odd one, can't see what would cause that its all fairly sealed up

I got an insignia. The 2ltr diesel. Nice looking car to be honest.
The gear selector worried me. Like you say I cant think why it would be like that. Gears all work fine but takes some pulling to get the thing to move.

It'll be a sad day seeing her go though  .

Like to see how you get on with Insignia, we were deeply disappointed with Estate version.

Even TC parts price & no doubt similar service needs to the Omega, its on the list for possible future replacements.

Dont know if its worth anything or not but its got 2 years servicing thrown in as well.... i did like it on the test drive .
Im more concerened with reliability at the moment .... little faults creeping in with the car now and its needing timing belt , wishbones , rear donuts etc .
Ive moved out into the countryside so cant bum a lift to work if things go wrong anymore ....

I know what you mean, lack of me being around regularly to do jobs on MotherT's Elite Estate has caused issues.

Its a big problem when you need something reliable that goes not always need a tinker or two

Its this model i got  Vx Insignia 2.0 CDTi SRi Nav [160] 5dr Auto ..... got lots of buttons and knobs and a big screen thing 
Had to go back on the Arnold Clark website to find my one again .

Yep shes been a good one ... 5 mot,s without even an advisory.
Just unfortunately shes let me down on the worst possible day ( the day i actually moved house ) and some other little issues lately .
Alarms screaming at 3 am in the morning just recently and having to remove it at that time when the snow was battering down.
Needs wishbones , donuts as it feels like its wandering all over the place at times .... timing belt now slightly overdue and just feels like shes getting old 
This very strange stiff to move gear lever was unfortunatly the deciding factor it was time to move on  .
Didnt fancy finding out it wont move at all shortly when i need to be somewhere etc.
I have no idea why the lever would suddenly become so stiff to move back and forwards but it cant be good what ever the reason .
All looks ok with the gator in the cabin removed. Lubed up with some light grease but just the same . Havent looked underneath though .
Hopefully she'll plod on for just a few more days though .

I think that the Insignia is better screwed together than the Omega, and is probably the superior car. However, the downside is that it fell from the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

It's dumpy and dated appearance does nothing for me. Every time I see one I think of Susan Boyle.

I like it from the side and especially the back .... however i will agree there are better looking cars from the front .
Each to there own though 
I am impressed with the spec of the 2ltr SRi though .
Lots of buttons and toys ... good job i got a full 3 year warranty cause theres lots to go wrong i suppose .

I sat in an Insignia at the dealers. I thought that the interior was " light years " ahead of the Omega......but then we should all expect that.

I've no idea how they drive so can't really comment, but I understand they are wrong wheel drive.
