It's just a shame they never did a Lotus Vauxhall Omega. I'd say the 3.0/3.2 Elite/MV6 will be the ones worth the most . 2.2s are still comman compared to the V6s.

TBH, I don't think they will in my lifetime... Certainly not dramatically

I guess vehicles (or anything for that matter) only increase in value if there are more punters than products. (Supply / Demand).

With the Omega not being a hugely successful car in the first place, it is unlikely it will ever become a collectors item, or indeed, sought after.

Of course, there are a few of 'us' who have respect for the big 'ol barge, and that is why we are here.

TBH, I don't think they will in my lifetime... Certainly not dramatically

+1, AND millions of omegas or less maybe  were sold unlike the lotus carlton which was limited production/trial run between vx and lotus

Omega's are currently at there all time low at the moment, with lots of GLS, CD and CDX's to choose from, low millage Elites with the Toys and MV6's seen to be more favorable at the moment, so do good examples of Pre/Mini Facelift, again need to be the right models.

I would agree Elites and MV6's would be good Classics in the future and probably a nice example of ex Plod.

Plan on keeping both 3.2 Manuals in Saloon and Estate as long as funds allow.

I don't think the omega is special or rare enough to be worth big money and before I get hung drawn and quartered, I love them still but only because they are and always have been brilliant value for money

You all say that the Omega will not become "valuable" again, but people said that about the Sierra models. Look at the prices nowadays, even for base models and you would be surprised.

I paid £800 for my Sierra Ghia 4x4 Sapphire back in 2002 with 48k on the clock and it now has 97k on the clock and is valued by the insurance on a classic policy @ £2,500. I paid £300 for a 1989 2000e back in 2006/7 and, with some resto work, is now valued at the same. And some of the older cars are even more. Also have a 1986 Escort cabriolet Ghia with twin-choke carbs which I purchased in 2003 for £150, insurance company now independently value it at £4,500.

Just goes to show, the rarer something becomes (even if they are common cars now), in good condition, will go up, providing that there is not another year range of the same thing which is better (i.e. MK1 & 2 Golfs are stupid value, but the MK3 is never worth too much, yet the MK4 is starting to go up in value).

I think it's surprising sometimes what can happen to car values. I once bought an old mini in the early nineties for £90.

Classic/sporty Fords sell for ludicrous sums of money imo.They are nice cars but I cant see why people pay so much for them.
Minis are a bit different,they are a very historically important car,as well as being held in great affection by many people.
Vauxhalls are rarely thought of in the same way as old Fords (Lotus Carlton to an extent,being one of the few exceptions) because imo,VX have done a pretty crap PR job for their own brand down through the years.
I dont think Omegas will ever become particularily sought after tbh.They dont have great appeal for most people now (which is why they are such a bargain),but a very clean low mileage example will probably be worth a reasonable amount in 15 - 20 years time.
Cars which fetch serious money when they are old,tend to be cars which were highly regarded by many people when they were new.

They haven't even bottomed out yet.
Then, there won't be many left.
And as a big, expensive to own car with no image to bring the prices up, they'll stay cheap.

Sorry Kate nothing that special about Omegas - but a Lotus Carlton is special and only a limited number were made.  However the one on ebay @ £26K - not too bad for a £48K car

Lotus Catlton was rare when it was new I thought...?  And desirable, with character and wow factor. It made headlines when released due to its massive power output.

Omega has a dull image as a Taxi. There's loads of them still, and I can't see it being a valued desirable classic tbh.
