Cameron's EU deal
« on: 08 February 2013, 22:27:42 »

He's claiming "pride" in getting the EU budget to be cut ..but

We won't pay much less. Indeed, with rebates reducing (thanks to Blair) we may well be paying more. ::) ::)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-21384682

and, in any case, the deal on the budget needs to be passed by the MEPs...and guess what?

They've been given a secret vote on it!!!

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/danielhannan/100202139/meps-propose-to-hold-the-eu-budget-vote-by-secret-ballot/

So no one will know how their MEP voted. Which makes it highly likely, to my mind, that they will not vote for anything which slows the gravy train.

Why do we continue to be part of such an affront to democracy?

I actually hope the MEP's do vote against the agreement.

It will then prove to those who doubt just how wrong the system is, and give much more credence to those who wish to reform it.

I'm inclined to agree with your synopsis, Entwood. :y

However, reform is not an option for people like Martin Shultz, Guy Verhofstadt and Herman Van Rompuy. To them, an EU superstate is all or nothing.  :(

How can they possibly have a secret vote on something like a budget ? now a matter of security I could understand, but just on how much of our tax pounds/euros they can spend is underhanded.

Oh yes and we need to stop refering to government money or eu money. It is taxpayers money and should always be refered to as such. The media is very guilty of this.

It's the EU, dear boy. They make up the rules as they go along. ;) ::) ::) ::)

The most interesting thing would be which way all those UKIP MEPs vote...

Perhaps, in a nod to credibility, UKIP might be persuaded to demonstrate which way they voted :-\

It is guaranteed that they will vote against it, as if no budget is set it automatically goes up by 2%. I think people are fed up with this game playing federal fanaticism.  >:( >:( >:( >:(

Making the vote secret is a typical left wing, the end justifies the means abuse. Nigel Farage is right, they are not nice people and are very dangerous. Once they have taken over all the levers of power, they will never surrender them without a fight.  >:( >:( >:( >:(

It is the most ruthless people that will grab power at the top: Van Rumpuy, Borasso, Shultz, Verhofstadt of this world and they will use it ruthlessly, oppressively and violently for their own ends.  >:( >:( >:( >:(

I really don't think this is going to end well, I just hope the UK have left before it turns even nastier, than freezing and starving the people of Greece. This winter in Greece heating oil sales were down by 80% in the South and 60% in the north of the country, so there are a lot of freezing and starving people there right now, relying on soup kitchens for one warm meal a day. But I'm sure for the EU elites this is just collateral damage, like the murder of 20 million was to Stalin.  >:( >:( >:( >:(
