Vac Tanks
« on: 10 February 2013, 22:19:51 »

I've had a minor problem with my heater for some time now. It starts off just fine but an hour or two into a long journey, the fan is still spininng but there is no air flowing through the vents. After checking all sorts I thought it might perhaps be linked with one of the two vac tanks in the engine bay so I started reading up on vac tanks on here. That led me to an old post from 2007 from Marks DTM Calib where he was explaining how you are supposed to get a vacuum to hold when you suck on the the vac supply from the T piece near the scuttle which feeds the vac tank near trumpets and then get a hiss when you disconnect the outlet pipe from the vac tank. It's there to activate the mutiram under acceleration. Well, I am getting no vacuum at all when I suck so I am thinking the vac tank near the trumpets is goosed. So that needs sorting anyway. And if it is goosed then the other one hidden under the pollen filter which looks like it has something to do with the heater is probably also goosed.

So,
1. What are the part numbers for these vac tanks? I thnk they are the same correct?
2. How much are they from Vauxhall with a TC?
3. How do you get to the one 'under the pollen filter'? If I take the scuttle off, will I find it?

Cheers fellas

Mark

If the built in one way valves are knackered (reasonably common fault), you can just put an inline one way valve on the feed to the tank.
