Its actually a criminal offence to make modifications to the telecommnications network without authority.

To consumers, that means touching it before the network termination point, which is:

NTE5A/B - the test socket behind lower faceplate
Master Socket - every socket
Planset, exc Plan 4, and hardwired - the phone(s)
Plan 4 - every socket
HES - the phones

Its desperately easy to tell if bob the builder has pissed around.

In reality, you're unlikely to go to court, unless you are doing it for others, but may end up with a £90+VAT + T&M charge to put it right.

The simple fact a shite set up like BT tell me I can't do it absolutely means I have to move it, and  while at it make it glaringly obvious to any engineer who visits that I have done so...just so he can look at me and I can give him the look that says...I wanted to ,so I did , so there.

Some times people on here can be so gut wrenchingly uptight about things it makes me want to pull my eyes out with a rusty fork.....but then again that's why OOF works so well, as we are all so different :D

off course you would know it would be upside down and at least 1 screw missing and the other cross threaded ;) ;D ;D

like the labouerer on a site I ran in morcambe took out half the shopping centre whilst digging a trench so i asked him why did he hit that big black cable for, he casually replied he wanted to see if it was alive!!!! by chance the pick had a wooden shaft was a bit blackened but saved his life

I did say what the laws of the land are, not what you should do.  Though be aware, as I tried to warn, it is blindingly obvious that its been buggered around with, and you can expect a charge when they find out.
