Had one of those as a loan car. It really was amazing when it came to fuel. Was a little gutless but could keep up with the traffic ok.

They are very gutless, almost dangerously so these days!

You can get great mpg from anything small with low power engines, even the 1.0 Corsa as was in petrol guise would see in excess of 50mpg and the old 1.5TD Nova used to turn 70+

And what a joke it was there today  :(

Got there looked at car with the sales man.
Then bro done the test drive thing.

well he has been looking at lots of these for weeks.and has a good idea of the price these are going for..

well they want £9,790 for it.bro offered them £9,500..which i thought was too high

Salesman says i will go and have a word with my boss and off he went
5min later came back...sorry he says but the best we can do is £9,600 but we can do better if you have it on finance. :D :D

No bro says i want to pay in one go.sorry sir thats the best we can do then. :-\

so we walked out all over £100 on a nine and half grand deal.

drove back to leicester and when we get home there was a message on his answering machine.

Hello there mr customug, its the sales manager at das welt auto..can you give me a call when you get this mess bla bla bla

Bro rings..

sales:Hello you came to see the car today why did you not buy !

bro: cos i offered you £9.500  and you rejected it. saying your best price is £9,600

sales: yes im sorry about that.the sales team should have came to me,but i was out at the time.but you can have it for £9,500

bro: no the new offer is £9,400 cos of fuel time off work and running back over to the pushbike city.

sales:ok what i will do is £9,500 and we will bring the car to your door.

bro: ok i will get back to you...

money no longer talks they want you to buy on the knock ;D ;D ;D ;D

Buy it on the never never, but ask for a cut of their commission, so getting it cheaper.. then pay off the never never with a cheque within the 14 day "cooling off" period and pay no interest .. :)  :)  :)

Used to work well, but I've not done it for many years.. so check the figures and contract .. in case they've shut that loophole ...  :)

Yes Entwood - Used to be a blinder of a work-around.  Nowadays, *most* policies have an early settlement fee, which is usually quite a sum.

the other way is buy it on a credit card then the dealer has to pay 5% to the card company, but most of them got wise to that one too.
