I'm thinking of getting another bike.
« on: 23 February 2013, 17:40:40 »

I've been offered a 2001 Yamaha Thunderace 1000 for £1800. It's been dry stored in a garage for the last three years, but I'm told it's started ( but not ridden/piloted) once a week.

I'm 53, but Mrs Opti has told me to "grow up", whilst Junior members of family Opti have cruelly told me that I'm "past it". ::) ::) ;)

I suppose I could be sensible and buy a caravan instead  ::) ::).......and as soon as I stop having sex, that's exactly what I'll do. :'(

Okay, so I may be getting on a bit, but I think I'm right in saying that I'm still a couple of years younger than The Boy and that Chrisgixer fella. Furthermore, old Albs still rides a bike and he must be at least eighty by now.

Some say he dons his pudding-basin helmet and goggles and blats around the Essex countryside in the dead of night on his 1949 Royal Enfield, shouting at the world. ::) ::) ;) :)

Sensible or irresponsible?.....That is the question.

Now that is a tempting offer. I could always use Mrs Opti's Corsa.......she'll be fine taking the bus. :y

Do it Opti. You are still young (at heart) and you'll regret it later if you don't. I'm slightly older than you but I still haven't given up on a last fling with something fast and loose.

Get the bike.  :y :y :y

I ridden motorbikes since I was 17, and have no intentions of giving up anytime soon.  :y :y :y

My older brother as a youngster had a number of small bikes the biggest being a Honda CB200. About 5 years ago he decided to get another bike and bought a Kawasaki ZZR1100 and since then has been out most Sundays on his bike with a group of like mined friends. They go on ride outs all over the country with him typically doing about 1,000 miles a month.  :y :y :y

Where he walks to work, the car is mainly for his wife's benefit.
