Traffic incident yesterday? (a404 m40)

Anyone know what happened? Took me bloody ages to get home. M4 backed up to the m25. No info on the matrix signs.

A post on Pistonheads yesterday reported someone had hung themselves from a bridge over the A40 but this seems to say otherwise :-\
M40 reopened - High Wycombe

Tuesday 26 February 2013, 8:26pm

The M40 motorway is now open in both directions around High Wycombe.
 
Police received a call at 1.55pm to reports that a man was on the wrong side of the barriers on the bridge over the M40 towards Cressex Road, High Wycombe.
 
Both lanes of the motorway were closed from junction 4B to junction 3 and reopened at around 7.30pm.

The man has been detained by officers for causing a danger to road users and is currently in police custody.
 
There are still long delays in the area while traffic clears.

It was manic round here yesterday.....I went out and soon came back.....everywhere was pandemonium that I tried to go. Such are the traffic motorway links here, M40/M4/M25/M1, whenever there is an incident, everything backs up, always >:(

And High Wycombe is a sh1te town to drive through at the best of times :y

What I read was that he was threatening to jump off the bridge into the traffic.. which (detail notwithstanding) agrees with the report you posted I guess.

I understand the M4/A404 junction was closed for 6 hours..

Nobody was hung/killed. The local rumour mill has been churning out all sorts  ::)

Guy who was on bridge was safely secured and dealt with.
