The forum strikes again!
« on: 05 November 2006, 12:51:52 »

Big thanks to Timbuk (again), he came round earlier & helped change my waterpump :y............ err, well OK he changed my waterpump with a bit of hindrance from me!!
The bad news is that the rattle is still there but nowhere near as bad (the waterpump was definitely on it's way out).
The good news is that without the pump making a noise we think we've narrowed the rattle down to the aux belt tensioner, so that'll be changed soon.

I thought you lubed it when we did the cambelt?  Oh well.  ::)

I talked to timbuk.  You getting the door and the cam cover gaskets lined up for next weekend?  I don't have the small torque wrench.

Yes I did, but the new belt's so tight we think it's putting pressure on the tensioner,

In theory the tension shouldn't change much.  More likely changed the focus of the pressure on the inner bearing race, was worn to the old position.

Probably right, we tried Matchless's test with a screwdriver & we're pretty sure it's the tensioner....

No probs on the tools.  Less to haul around in the trunk  ;)

I may fiddle with my HID motor this weekend, other than that no real plans to work on the Omega until spring.  OK, maybe I should wash it for the first time  ::) ;D
