when doing a left turn the migs developed a knock (has to be a full lock). suspect a steering rod, but they were only done last October. at the time I let a local kwikfit type of establishment do the work as a bad back problem stopped me doing them. would I have a right if it turns out to be a ball joint to make them to put it right. mileage will not be no where near a 1000 yet.

Check the wishbone ball joint for play with wheels loaded. Wiggle the wishbone up and down, basically.

Also check the steering box bolts for tightness.

The design of the 'lock-stop' on the Omega is flawed. A flat metal disc on the wishbone (lower control arm) hits a stop on the bottom of the front strut on full lock.

There is an immense amount of leverage, if you wind the steering against the stop, but no apparent harm is done if the suspension isn't moving. If the suspension does move then the stop tries to grind the disc off the wishbone.
