Hi all....
A couple of days ago I noticed a small patch of oil around the bolts that hold the cam covers on. Also on the top of the breather bridge cover by the extension front part. Would this be due to breathers blocked.
I know there is a very good posting in maintenance on this subject, but it looks a bit beyond my confidence area to do this. When I was younger, I would have been straight in, but todays engines frighten me.
I have been told I do not need to take it all to bits.....can I just take off the breather bridge and give that a good clean. I can't even see the other thing (breather box) with two pipes on it.
Car is 2.6 V6

Throttle bodies need to come off to get to the breathers, which is easier done with the plenum removed.
As a very quick, basic, and not altogether conclusive check of the breathers, remove the pipes from the back of the plenum. If these are totally 'gunged up' then it will maybe give you an idea. Obviously this doesn't cover the breather box on top of the plenum nor the 'hidden' one at the back, but if you're not confident then maybe this is a first step?
The cam cover oil may be due to a faulty / worn O ring I guess, but start with the easy things 

I'm sure someone else will be able to give you better direction, and of course if TB is free then there'll be no issues.

It basically is down to confidence.
Unfortunately, I can't use my other Omega as that has started blowing like the clappers so that needs the exhaust sorted. Otherwise, I would bite the bullet and go for it. As you say....start easy

Yes, confidence is always an issue, particularly without the backup of another car, because those are the times where nothing goes to plan, or you need parts, etc.
