i have just been reading on another site that the red arrows have been banned from performing their displays at the 2012 olympics, because their image is too british and might upset people from other nations!i cant vouch for how factual this is ,but if it is true it sounds pretty ludicrous.apparently a petition is being started. :(

It would seem it offends 'everybody' if one shows the slightest national pride in our country.

I have a little-flagpole outside my house and I 'cycle' through our home nation`s flags throughout the year (in good 'furling' weather)....you would not believe the number of negative comments I have received about it.
Everything from "you`re probably a BNP racist are you?" to "you`re a fascist-loony!"....no, actually I`m just British and proud of it.  ;)

I was lucky enough to see the red arrows once at the RAF Finningley in 1972 I think it was.  I was all of 11 years old and the display they gave has allways remained a fond memory.

I think I still have the Airshow brochure tucked away some where.  BUT the bigger bonus that day was that CONCORDE did 2 low level passes over the airfield.

That is one memory that cannot ever be replaced or repeated.

There should never have been any question in the first place  >:(

I am seriously wondering which country I am living in (and, no, that's not a symptom of advancing years!! )

Isn't it just crazy..  I have many very close multicultural friends, ALL of whom are NOT offended by this pathetic idiocy.  My view and indeed theirs, is, those who are offended can go somewhere where they are not offended.  As we would have to in other countries! :-X

I'm not English, Scotish, Welsh, Irish or any other persuasion but, British and bloody proud of it! :y
