Ford Granada 2.9i - paperclip test doable?
« on: 03 March 2013, 17:34:02 »

Mate of mine has an ex-plod Granada 2.9i, it's sometimes running a bit lumpy. The Granada forum I've found is seemingly moribund (after all, when did you last see one?) - anyone know if you can imitate our beloved paperclip test, and if so which pins to bridge?

I've had an amateurish Google but I'm not finding anything specific. And I know it's not an Omega, but it's still a thumping great V6 so it's alright in my book ;)

Note really, how old is it, Ive seen some stuff floating around re Ford Code reading from the Dash but seems either some sort of Test or if any codes that do come up dont relate to the real fault codes anyway.

Oh yeah, it's a 1994 car, might help. I think we're quite lucky to have plenty of active members on here, ain't we...

It tends to be OK when dry, but if there's damp in the air or it's raining, apparently that's when it starts misbehaving. I'm leaning towards a good check of the ignition components, first off...

I am still a member there but my 2.9 went to the scrap heap in the sky and the site is not as active as it used to be there are a lot less Grannys and scorpions left now.  :'( :'(

My mate's is cracking, one small rust bubble, but the rest of it is immaculate. And in an, erm, unusual spec too - I've got the job of detailing it so I'll be putting some pics up...

Sorry to sound negative about them. There is an estate one about 100yards from where I live, the guy is an idiot anyway (he is politely called bob the builder) and the bonnet of the thing is never shut. He has owned it since before I moved here in 1997. And apart from his builders van it is his daily driver. Only positive I can say about is the body work looks good from a distance anyway, never seen it close up. He is the kind of guy who thinks he is hard man until you call his bluff. Then he won't even look you in the face.

Never did feel comfortable driving my 2.9 Cosworth Sad Face one, always seem to have a blip or second thoughts as though it was about to break down and die at any moment, did make a nice noise though, shame they never made a 3 peddle version.
