Transmission gear lever doesn't move. I couldn't find it in "common problems".

I tried twice in "index" and didn't find it.
I am sure there was a post about this problem. Solenoid? Brake switch?

Could be either. The brake light switch is a double contact switch ( N/O &  N/C contacts) so just because  your brake lights work, doesn't mean it's not the switch at fault. It was the switch when I had the same fault.
In the mean time, there's a yellow manual over-ride lever under the gear selector gaiter  :y

Thanks for your help,  :y I found lever and solenoid. I didn't find any bolts, holding solenoid, how hard to replace it?
Of course, I'll diagnose with multi-tester first.

I've not done one, but I seem to think it's riveted  :-\  :-\

I just disconnected solenoid, problem is solved!!! There is no need to push brakes anymore. ;D

You've to still lift the button up on the selector.  ??? Cars before the Omega trusted you ..... & didn't nanny you!  :-X The 'safety' feature is only to appease the US side of the Atlantic anyway.  ;)

I don't know if the insurance company would agree though if a safety feature had been bypassed.  :-\

Most cars in USA don't have "push brakes" safety.

My Merc R Class has it & was built in the USA for an American market  ;) ;) I suspect that most do have it.  :y

I've had quite a few hire cars in the US - pretty sure all had "push brakes" safety

Yep, all the cars i've driven over there have. Mind you, most of the carparks have kerbs infront of each space to stop 'runaways' as well.  ::)
