This is engine from another car.
I scratched off sharp edges of piston dents by flat screwdriver, replaced bent valves, lapped valves/seats.

I've done something similar when one of my Capris swallowed an airfilter mounting stud driving into a showfield. Made a godawful banging noise. Annoyingly, it was just visible through the spark plug hole, but not quite accessible. Ihad the AA tow it home at the end of the weekend.
We removed the head, chiseled the stud out of the piston, scraped the sharp edges away, ignored the corresponding divot in the cylinder head, and reassembled everything.
I got 2 more years use out it, about 60,000 miles and probably 100 runs at the drag strip. It was still running well when I scrapped it as we could only afford one car and hers was in better condition.

You just need to be careful that it hasn't crimped the piston ring tight in its' groove (which is a possibility, as that mark extends right to the edge of the piston. $:-\$

Thanks, I'll take my chances, removing pistons to check is too much work.
